Student Ministries:
  • Summer Kickoff was June 15th: new 6th graders come to youth group down in the Yurt.
  • Horizon and SPLAT (the Junior High and High School groups) meet on Tuesday nights for mid-week service.

Recent Sermon: Who Owns You?
4th Annual Golf Tournament - Registration Form (pdf)
  • This year we are raising funds to help children in Ethiopia and right here in San Jose. The tournament will be held at The Villages Golf and Country Club on Sunday, September 7th, 2008. Registration is now waitlist. We are still looking for Sponsors for our event. Contact the church office for more information.
Ethiopia Mission Trip Report and Ice Cream Social:
  • Ethiopia Mission Trip Our team just returned safely from Ethiopia. Sunday, August 31st at 2:00 come and hear some of the amazing stories from our team that just returned from Ethiopia. You will be absolutely inspired and glad you came. Plus, you will get treated to free ice cream!

Baby Dedications:
  • Sunday, September 14 during second service we will be having baby dedications. If you are interested in dedicating your child to the Lord, please contact Pastor Galley at 408-694-7847.
Attention Young Marrieds:
  • This September 14 EVC is starting a small group for Young Married couples. We will meet at 10:45 am in the church conference room. The group is being led by Don and Annie Smith. Contact us at evc_youngmarrieds@yahoo.com or call the church for more information.
Women's Retreat: Step by Step - Registration Form (pdf)
  • Sign-up now! The retreat will be held at the St. Francis Retreat Center in San Juan Bautista on September 26-28th. Pam Wood will be our speaker. The cost is $195 and there is a $25 nonrefundable deposit due at the time of sign up.
College Small Group:
  • Tailgate BBQ on Sunday, September 14th at 6pm. Cost is $5.00 and sign ups will be taken on the lawn at church on Sunday morning.
  • Calling all college age students! We meet Sunday nights at EVC from 6 - 7:45 pm. Food/Fellowship/Faith. Please contact Devin at dnelson@evergreenvalleychurch.org with questions.
Experiencing God:
  • Starts Sunday, September 14th at 10:45. Most Bible studies help people, this one changes them forever. Experiencing God (subtitle: Knowing and Doing the Will of God) by Henry Blackaby is one study that moves you into the direct awareness of God's presence and movement in your life. In this study, you will explore what Henry calls the seven realities of experiencing God. This biblical study does require homework and it will allow God to speak into your life in ways you may never have experienced before. Two identical class time options are being offered on campus at EVC. First, on Sunday morning during the 10:45 am service in the Yurt beginning on September 14 and the second it will be offered on Tuesday morning at 8:30 am beginning on September 16. You will need a workbook for this course at a cost of $15 available from the church.
College Textbooks:
  • Dr. Minas is looking for any used textbooks. These textbooks will be used to stock the library in the university in Addis, Ethiopia. Drop the textbooks off at the church by October 1st.
Truth Project:
  • EVC will be the Bay Area host for a satellite training conference for the Truth Project on September 27th.

    This live simulcast event from Focus on the Family is to equip people to lead the outstanding DVD based course, "The Truth Project". The Truth Project is a 12 week DVD led class that does a remarkable job of presenting a Biblical Worldview and counters the current secular worldview we face on many issues in today's society.
      The Truth Project offers the truth claims of God and lessons on the following issues and questions:
    1. Veritolgy: What is Truth?
    2. Philosophy & Ethics: Says Who?
    3. Anthropology: Who is Man?
    4. Theology: Who is God?
    5. Science: What is True?
    6. History: Whose Story?
    7. Sociology: The Divine Imprint
    8. Unio Mystica: Am I Alone?
    9. The State: Whose Law?
    10. The American Experiment: Stepping Stones
    11. Labor: Created to Create
    12. Community & Involvement: God Cares, Do I?

    EVC has a limited number of tickets to this event on sale now at a discounted price of $99. Contact the church office for tickets. Price includes attendance to the training event on 9/27 and a full set of the DVDs plus unlimited access to all the printed resource materials. When you complete this event, you will be equipped and ready to host your own group in your home, with your family or friends, in a community or a neighborhood location, or even right here at EVC.


Men's Retreat
  • We have scheduled our men's retreat for November 7th-9th at Mission Springs Conference Center in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Mark your calendar now and watch for future information.
Casa de Oracion:
  • Casa de Oracion is now at EVC. They are holding Christian services in Spanish on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm and Sunday afternoons 4-6 pm. Welcome!!
Kids Club Summer Splash
  • This summer bible camp was a huge success! Look for pictures and stories posted here.
Thursday Night Women's Bible Study
  • This study is offered to Women of all ages. We are going over the Sermon Summary Notes found in our bulletin every week. Dorothy Stewart and CeCe Lopez are leading the class. This is a very interactive class. We learn how to incorporate the word into our lives. If you have any questions please call the church office or just show up on Thursday night: 7-8:30.
All-Church Directory:
  • We are putting together a directory of the adults in the church. We need help with taking pictures and updating information. If you would like to be involved please call Susan at 408-274-7422 or email her at sschubert@evergreenvalleychurch.org.
Join a Small Group Today
  • We strongly believe that real spiritual growth happens best when small groups of people gather together in homes to read and discuss God's word, pray together, and regularly encourage one another. It's time for you to join a small group. Pick up a list of small groups at our Welcome Center. For help getting started contact Pastor Dennis or Jo Ann Taku, our small group coordinator, at the church office.
  • We are looking to start new groups this fall. We are looking for leaders that can come alongside of and help start new groups. Contact Pastor Dennis to discuss the possibilities.
Threads of Love:
  • Santa Teresa Hospital is interested in receiving burial gowns for babies that don't live. Renee Brogdon is starting a chapter of Threads of Love to provide these gowns. She needs your help! If you can sew or help cut fabric your help is greatly needed. Call the church office to get in touch with Renee for more information.
Come Pray with Us:
  • You are invited to join us on Sunday mornings from 7:15-7:45 am for a special time of prayer as we invite the Holy Spirit to come and to move in and through our Church Body.
Volunteer Opportunities:
  • We are looking for people with a heart to visit and talk with Senior citizens at Regency and Vintage/Sunrise throughout the week. Contact Pastor Dennis for more information at 408-274-7422.
  • The Hospitality team is in need of help on Sunday mornings. Food preparation, serving and clean up are the areas that can use your help. Contact Kathleen Lynch at kmlynch158@sbcglobal.net.
  • Do you like to hold babies? The Nursery team needs some loving arms! There are openings during both services. If you are interested contact Damaris Molina at damarismolina@aol.com.
  • All Church Directory: We will begin takng pictures of individual adults for our directory soon. If you are interested in helping with this project, please contact Susan at sschubert@evergreenvalleychurch.org.
Hope Unlimited Featured on NBC Nightly News:

Small Group Benefits
  • Joining a small group will give you the support you need as you grow in the truth and love of God. Develop eternal friends as you socialize, study God's word and pray together. Lending Library
  • Come and check out the lending Library next to the Elementary Children's room. Borrow a book, bring it back, bring some Christian books to add to the collection.
